This lecture will introduce the University of Nottingham’s capability in developing high-performance electrical machines enabled by advanced winding manufacturing line located in the globally recognized PEMC Institute. By starting with the Net-Zero driven KPIs, the lecture will explain why winding solution (stranded vs. preformed) becomes decisive when developing high speed, high power machines for traction / propulsion. The lecture will then move to “design for manufacturing” rules, with focus on introducing PEMC’s toolchains and full-scale hundreds-kW to MW level demonstrators.
主讲人:Dr. Tianjie Zou
Dr. Tianjie Zou received the BEng and Ph.D. degrees both in electrical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2013 and 2018, respectively. He joined the University of Nottingham (UoN), U.K., in 2018, as a research fellow within the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Institute. In 2020, he was awarded tenure-track Nottingham Research Fellowship and started his independent research career. Since 2023, he has transited to academic role as Assistant Professor in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where he is currently an Associate Professor.
Dr. Zou’s main research interests include multi-physics design and intelligent control of high-performance electric machines, with special attention on hundreds-kW to MW level high-speed, high-power permanent magnet and reluctance machines for electrified transportation. He has published over 80 papers in leading academic journals and conferences, and is the recipient of the 2023 IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification 2nd Prize Paper Award. Dr. Zou serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, and IEEE Open Journal of Industry Applications.
