Seminar On Talent Cultivation & Education Reform were Successfully Held

On December 15, 2025, the 2025 Working Conference of the Teaching Steering Committee for Electrical and Automation Majors in Sichuan Province and the Seminar on Talent Cultivation and Education and Teaching Reform were successfully held. The event was hosted by the School of Electrical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University (serving as the secretariat unit) and co-organized by the School of Continuing Education, Southwest Jiaotong University. Attendees included teaching steering committee members, program leaders, and faculty representatives from 24 universities and enterprises both within and outside the province. The conference was chaired by Professor Chen Minwu, Secretary-General of the Teaching Steering Committee and from Southwest Jiaotong University.

Academician Gao Shi-bin, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chair of the Teaching Steering Committee for Electrical and Automation Majors in Sichuan Province, delivered the opening remarks. He extended a warm welcome to the attending experts and teachers, expressing gratitude for their long-term care and support for the reform of education and teaching, as well as talent cultivation in electrical and automation majors in Sichuan Province. Academician Gao emphasized that in response to the spirit of the National Education Conference and the implementation of the Outline for Building a Strong Education Country, the Teaching Steering Committee should fully leverage its four core functions: teaching research, consultation, guidance, and services. He called for continuous efforts to promote high-quality development in the digitalization of education, in-depth integration of industry and education, and internationalization of electrical and automation majors in Sichuan Province.

Professor Wu Zai-jun, Secretary-General of the Teaching Steering Committee for Electrical Engineering Majors under the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech. On behalf of the committee, he extended warm congratulations on the convening of the meeting and affirmed the Teaching Steering Committee of Sichuan Province for its series of effective work in education and teaching reform. He expressed the committee's unwavering support for the work of the Teaching Steering Committee of Sichuan Province, emphasizing the need to strengthen communication and collaboration, share construction experiences, and jointly promote the high-quality development of electrical engineering education nationwide.

Professor Ma Guang-tong, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University, delivered a speech on behalf of the host. He extended the warmest welcome to the committee members and experts who had traveled from afar. He pointed out that during this critical period of building a new power system and empowering industrial upgrading with artificial intelligence, he looked forward to the committee members sharing the school's successful experiences and distinctive practices in professional development and talent cultivation.

Professor Liu Yan-li from Tianjin University delivered a keynote report titled "Thoughts and Practices on Empowering Gold Courses with Digital Intelligence Technology", using Fundamentals of Power Systems as an example to introduce the teaching reform achievements of Gold Course construction from the perspectives of reshaping objectives, strengthening top-level design, reshaping content, and innovating methods.

Professor Hu Qin-ran from Southeast University presented a report titled "Innovation and Practice in Competency-Based Excellence Training for Electrical Engineering Talent", sharing the successful experience of building the country's first Electric Vehicle Transportation Engineering major through the "Electrical + X" professional development approach.

Professor Xiao Xian-yong from Sichuan University delivered a report titled "Cultural Exchange, Mutual Learning of Concepts, and Complementary Advantages: Sichuan University's Exploration and Practice in Internationalization of Higher Engineering Education", introducing the important measures and achievements of the university's China-Germany cooperation program in student training, faculty development, and teaching management.

Following the presentations, Professor Zhang Li-hua from Sichuan Agricultural University, Professor Li Guohui from Sichuan Normal University, Wang Tao from Xihua University, and Qiu Cunyong from Southwest Petroleum University respectively shared practical experiences in first-class major construction and talent cultivation system innovation, leveraging the industry advantages of their respective institutions.
